Description of the Event: Now, while there is an increasing focus on practitioner burnout and mental health, is the time to broaden the reach of our science to and support individual health and wellbeing. A well-developed self-care repertoire is a proactive way in which to manage stress and deal with emotional issues associated with increasing job demands and diminishing job resources. As behavioral scientists and practitioners, have the knowledge to apply our science to help individuals and the communities within which they live, learn, work, and play override their “default” actions and commit to taking effective self-care actions. This presentation is designed to provide attendees with knowledge, tools, and techniques that will allow them to make a noticeable, positive impact on their own wellbeing, on the wellbeing of their employees or clients, and ultimately, on society as a whole. In this presentation, I will share my story and describe my experiences teaching others how to support everyday behavior and wellbeing using behavioral science. I will also share how my self-study in the area of Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT), along with my background in Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) has allowed me to craft a self-care approach that draws from basic learning principles and self-management strategies. This approach has allowed me to make tweaks to my daily life that have led to a more valuable and productive existence, allowing me to be a more effective teacher, coach, and consultant. Finally, I will share insights about and share data from recent efforts aimed at supporting the development of a self-care repertoire to improve health and wellbeing.

Learning Objectives for Participants

  1. Identify and describe the six dimensions of wellbeing.
  2. Identify and describe self-care practices (behaviors) associated with six dimensions of wellbeing.
  3. Describe how the combination of ABA and ACT provide a unique perspective for the development of a self-care repertoire to improve health and wellbeing.
  4. Identify and describe at least three key “ingredients” involved in establishing and maintaining daily self-care practices.

What’s the Webinar Refund policy? Refunds will not be given for recorded webinars once a purchase is made.

How do I get a certificate of completion? During the webinar, attendance codes are shown on the screen and read out loud. You must write these down and submit them on the post-webinar survey form. You will also be asked to answer four questions. Once we determine that you attended the webinar, we will issue a certificate of completion within 7-10 business days. If you do not submit the attendance codes, we will not issue a certificate of completion. No refund will be issued for insufficient submission of codes or failure to answer questions correctly. This policy is announced at the beginning of the webinar.
